It’s a great pleasure to be able to report back to The Friends that our annual Carol Service on December 20th was a very happy and successful occasion.

For almost two days a steady stream of children from Gresham Primary School, with their parents and grandparents, arrived at St John’s with flowers and vegetables in every type of container imaginable. Aided by their teachers and classroom assistants, the children set about transforming the church into the most engaging and entertaining flower festival, almost certainly the first such festival to be held at St John’s.

  • Music for a Summer's Evening

    Kevin Drury, guest organist

Our first fund raising concert, “Music for a Summer’s Evening” on Saturday 20 June was extremely well received by an appreciative audience.

The weather was kind to us and St John’s looked a picture with some lovely flower arrangements courtesy of “the flower ladies”. The star of the evening was our guest organist Kevin Drury who played a wide variety of pieces specially chosen for a summer’s evening.

The evening raised £500 for the Friends of St John’s, surely a creditable result for our first venture.
